History

The Heureux Hasard house was built in 1898 by a farmer named Joyeux Thériault. Joyeux was part of one of the founding families of the village of Bertrand. He and his wife Adeline raised their 13 children in this house.

Your friendly hosts Daniel and Manon are a united couple known for their love of life. Together since 1990, married in 1993 and parents of two big boys, they dreamed since their early days to acquire a Bed & Breakfast and make it a little paradise for families and travelers.

The maternal roots of Manon are in New Brunswick, specifically in Paquetteville, where her mother was born. Following her mother's sudden death in March 2008, Manon, with her husband, made ??a pilgrimage to New Brunswick to pay their last respects to her. At that time, Daniel had just lost the job he had in Montreal for over 20 years as a foreman for a heavy equipment distribution center. Manon, who was a coordinator of human resources, was questioning her future. The situation was difficult for them.

On this trip, by chance , they landed at King Bed & Breakfast, located in the small village of Bertrand, 3 km from Caraquet. The house is then for sale by the owners. Then, on the spur of the moment, they acquire this beautiful property. They leave their town of St-Eustache, Quebec, and finally take the chance to live their dream. Waht a "Serendipity" (wich could be translated in French by "Heureux Hasard')! Manon and Daniel decided to name the Bed & Breakfast after that experience.

Manon, a graduate cook a also a great cookbooks collector, will enchant you with its comforting home cooking. Daniel, a wonderful host, will quickly make you feel at home in this beautiful old house where each room was furnished and decorated to make it a warm and cozy and leave you with great memories when you visit. You will be seduced by their desire to make people happy around them.
